Who I am

My name is Tristan Woolf and I’m a video game Sound Designer.

I’m in search of a really fun and rewarding project. My goal is to learn as much as I can as a Sound Designer and Game Dev so I can bring that knowledge into any future project, be that personal or professional.

Other Work

Limbo

After realizing I would need experience at a higher level, I decided to take Limbo on as my second project. This was the point I was able to really get into Wwise, looking through hierarchies to find the right events and really getting to add my own flavour to the game. Creating the sounds for the spider and its surrounding area was easily some of my favourite work.

Burn Out Game Out

In 2021 I participated in my first game jam. It really taught me a lot about managing scope. The team had a lot of great ideas, unfortunately too many were in dev at once leaving the game without any real focus. In the end it was good practice in Unity, Wwise and communication.

(Music was premade for the competition)

Scene Manager

I was hired on Fiverr by Pulze to do the Sound Design for their 3DS max plugin Scene Manager. I experienced delivering a product to a client on a short deadline, a process I found to be rewarding and fun. This was my first paid professional project and I’m extremely proud of the work I accomplished.

TruthSeeker

As Iā€™m always looking to expand my portfolio… My friend lent me a Game Jam that he had completed. Initially, the audio was set up in Unity. However, with some quick set up changes, I was able to use Wwise. I loved leaning into the campiness of the project making chipmunk voices, and adding a small fanfare for winning. It was a fun change of pace to include more musical aspects in the sound design as well.

What I Do

Field Recording

Field Recording is all about going out and being creative with the environment to capture and develop the perfect sounds for use in a multitude of in-game assets.

Voice Over

Voice Over ranges from recording myself making sounds in my home studio, to recording live actors on a set. Voice over is integral to connect with characters and bring them to life.

Asset Creation

Combining your sound library and field recording into the perfect sound to fit any atmosphere or game and develop that unique flare that will help create a memorable experience for all players.

Mixing and Mastering

The final step in the process before audio is finished for your game. Mixing and Mastering will bring together all the previous processes and creates the perfect balance between, music, sound effects, and voice over.

Audio Implementation

Audio Implementation is the process whereby assets are integrated to work well within the designed systems of the game. A good grasp of coding and middleware makes this possible.

And More…

The most enjoyable aspect of it all is getting to work in a team of likeminded individuals to solve problems and collaborate making a work of art that everyone can enjoy.
